2013 YELLOW CREEK Fly Fishing ClassiC RESULTS

Stan Stein & Yves Carreu Grand Champion

Tournament Date:
April 27-28, 2013

The repetitive motion of angler’s casting could be heard across Yellow Creek, in Indiana Pa., as anglers competed in the 4th annual Range Resources Yellow Creek Fly Fishing Classic. This was an incredible opportunity for two man teams to fish up to twelve hours on the bountiful Yellow Creek, nestled in beautiful Brush Valley, Pennsylvania, while raising valuable funds the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The event was held on Yellow Creek Trout Club’s private, stocked waters.

The Indiana weather was once again a bit indecisive. Saturday painted clear skies to match the sun rays while Sunday the rain clouds won the battle, but rain or shine the lines did fly and the competition was a soaring success. Fierce competition prompted a three-way tie between Scott Roy, Yves Carreu and Dan Houk for the largest rainbow trout at 21 inches.

Stan Stein & Yves Carreu defended their grand champion title winning this year’s Yellow Creek Fly Fishing classic reeling in 304 points. Gene Fergerson and Dan Houk received runner-up grand champion and was followed closely by Scott Roy and James Roy of Range Resources, the event title sponsor.
In addition to fly fishing, several auctions are held throughout the course of the event. Stan Stein, Event Chairperson, donated top of the line items for the auction.

The Bid for a Cure portion of the event was filled with generous donations as the money  donated went directly to finding a cure. Range Resources was not only the title sponsor for the Yellow Creek Fly Fishing Classic but also matched a $5,000 bid which helped to raise approximately $9,000 in the Bid for a Cure auction alone. “Having Range Resources as the title sponsor has helped to make this event grow, and be a successful fundraising event for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation,” says Sarah Steele, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Development Manager.

Yves Carreu, working his magic

Angler’s line casting was not the only thing soaring high at this year’s Yellow Creek Fly Fishing Classic. The event raised over $37,000 at Yellow Creek for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. This event was definitely one “catch for the cure.”
